CONDORIRI TREK – HUAYNA POTOSI

PROGRAM 4 DAYS/ 3 NIGHTS

DAY 1: La Paz - Laguna Tuni - Laguna Jurikhota
Departure from La Paz at 08 am in our private vehicle we will take about 3 hrs. to la rinconada then we will start our trek
After lunch, we go over a pass at (4900 m.) altitude, before descending to Laguna Jurikhota  From there we have a very beautiful view of the “Cabeza del Condor”, or the Head of the Condor also known as El Condoriri, dominating the scenery (5648). It forms, with the two adjacent Summit, the Condoriri Range, in the shape of a condor with tucked wings. (L, D)
Hiking time: 4 to 5 hrs.

DAY 2: Laguna Jurikhota -   Laguna Chiarkhota
From Laguna Jurikhota we begin by ascending a steep slope to reach Laguna Congelada, a jewel nested at an altitude of 4900 meters at the foot of El Condoriri (5648m).
From there we keep climbing to a second pass Paso Austria, (5100 m) before descending on the other side towards El Condoriri and El Pequeño Alpamayo base camp, at the edge of Laguna Chiarkhota (4670 m) overnight at the base camp. (B, L, D)
Hiking time: 6 to 7 Hrs.
Day 3: Laguna Chiarkhota – Maria Lloco
We leave the Condoriri behind us, pass at the base of the Black Needle and eventually reach the Jallayko Pass (el. 5025m). We then drop into the very beautiful and steep Jistaña Valley, before ascending Tillipata Pass (el. 5000 m). The spectacular scenery over the myriad of Lagunas down below is ample reward for our efforts. Later on, another downhill takes us to Laguna Esperanza, and then we will find our campsite at the foot of Maria Lloco (el. 5522m).

Hiking Time: 6 to 7 Hrs
Day 4: María Lloco – Campo base Huayna Potosí – La Paz

In the morning we will hike to Milluni pass (5000 m) from there, we overlook the Milluni Valley. We keep on going towards our shelter by passing Huayna Potosi on our left. At this point, the Andes abruptly drop into the Yungas, a green and tropical area. This is the end of our trek then we will come back to La Paz. (B, L)

Hiking Time: 5 to 6 Hrs.
